National Honor Society Gives Back Through Fundraising and Service

The Oakbrook National Honor Society has been hard at work this year, excelling in academics, leadership, and community service.

On select Wednesdays, NHS has hosted Wake Up Wednesdays, partnering with Knowledge Perk Coffee Company. Students, faculty, and parents have enjoyed fresh coffee and breakfast treats on campus, with a portion of each sale benefiting NHS.

NHS also kicked off the year with the Farewell to Summer Ice Cream Social, featuring sweet treats from Two Scoops Creamery, with more ice cream socials planned, including a Welcome/Hello Spring Ice Cream Social. A portion of proceeds from these events goes toward NHS initiatives and service projects.

All funds raised through these food fundraisers will support the senior class initiative: sponsoring a family in need at Christmas and contributing to a Senior Legacy Gift at the end of the school year—a meaningful project chosen by senior NHS members to leave a lasting impact on the Oakbrook community.

In addition, NHS is looking ahead to Jeans Day on October 22, spearheaded by the junior class. This event will benefit the community, with society members participating not only by raising funds but also by volunteering their time to support a family or cause during the holiday season.

Through these efforts, NHS continues to embody its core values of scholarship, leadership, service, and character—showing that even small treats and casual fundraisers can fuel meaningful acts of kindness.
