Nancy grew up in Spartanburg and graduated from Converse College with a degree in Special Education and teaching certifications in Preschool, Elementary, Comprehensive Special and Deaf Education. After teaching twelve years for the Spartanburg Hearing Handicapped Program she came to work at what was then named The Village School. She found the school while seeking school options for her young children. Upon entering the basement of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where the small school was housed, it was clear that this school was special. Her two oldest children started there the following fall and she followed suit, first as a tutor/teacher and then as the Assistant Director for founder Rosemary Moore. Over the years she has served as a director for all levels and Interim Director for one year. Developing positive relationships with students, especially those in the older grades is her passion. Her happiest moments are spent in conversation with a group of Upper School students. Nancy is married to Kenneth, a supervising accountant at R.R. Donnelley. They have three children, Brett, Clay, and Kendyle, who all graduated from Oakbrook. They attend Bethlehem Baptist Church in Roebuck.
