Oakbrook earns EXCELLENT Cognia Rating
Oakbrook Preparatory School is proud to announce that the Cognia Accreditation Team recommended the school for re-accreditation with an EXCELLENT rating.
Cognia, formerly known as AdvancED, conducted an accreditation review this week and issued its final report to administration and staff on Wednesday afternoon.
The accreditation review – undertaken every five years – is a highly detailed, data-driven, and all-encompassing examination of the school. Based on evidence and interviews with faculty, students, parents, and board members, the review team awarded Oakbrook high marks in standards covering leadership capacity, teaching and learning impact, and resource management.
There are 31 standards used to evaluate those three areas and each school scores between 250 (passing / average rating) and 400. Oakbrook is still awaiting the official score, but the preliminary score was above a 320, which well exceeds Cognia’s average score of 278-283.
The review team praised Oakbrook’s outstanding teachers and the innovative and creative lessons they witnessed during their classroom observations. The lead reviewer mentioned that she became so engaged in the lessons that she caught herself neglecting her notes throughout her visits to the classes.
The team also met students throughout their two days on campus, interviewed 30 students from lower, middle, and upper school, and said they were “blown away” by how articulate, and impressive the students were.
"While I was not surprised to hear them praising our teachers and students, it filled my heart with pure joy to know they saw what I have the pleasure of seeing every day," said Head of School Kyle Boyles.
"Oakbrook is truly special, and this is proof of the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty, and families!"
