After 18 years of faithful service to our school community, Debbie Locke will retire at the end of the school year. A message from the head of school...
After months of careful deliberation and prayer, on behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Vickie Bolduc as Lower School Director to replace retiring Director Debbie Locke. Vickie will assume leadership of the lower school for the fall 2014 school year. Here is a brief bio on Director Bolduc.
Vickie was born in Spartanburg and has lived here most of her life. One of her first experiences with a private, Christian education was when she attended Charleston Southern University (Baptist College at Charleston) where she majored in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. After teaching in public schools in the Charleston area and in Spartanburg, Vickie was looking for something different for her own children. In the process of finding a school for her youngest daughter, Casey (Oakbrook 2008), she also found a new teaching position. Vickie was attracted to Oakbrook, which was then called The Village School, by the Christian environment, the family atmosphere and small class size. This began a 17 year relationship with Oakbrook Preparatory School where Vickie taught first grade and then served as Preschool Director. After a three year absence she is excited to again have the opportunity to share the Oakbrook culture with Lower School families and students. Vickie loves to cook and preserve fresh summer foods for delicious winter meals. She enjoys weekend visits to Charleston or the mountains and finding new places to explore and new restaurants to try. Vickie is married to Jim and they have three grown children. The Bolducs attend Bethany Baptist Church in Spartanburg.
I would like to say a big thank you to Debbie for her leadership of the lower school throughout the transition from The Village School to OPS and the leadership transition that brought me here. Her grace, calm demeanor, and love for our faculty, children, and school will leave a long legacy. I am grateful for the love she has poured into the staff and students. For nearly all of our first 20 years, her work in the lower school has been the backbone of what makes our school great. I trusted God would lead the right person to take over for Debbie and shepherd the work of an outstanding lower school faculty. Congratulations Debbie and welcome home Vickie.
